Ingredients

250 g Sana hummus

Falafel

  • 1 cup chickpeas
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup coriander, chopped
  • 1/2 cup mint, chopped
  • 2 green chili peppers
  • 5 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon powdered coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon powdered cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • salt

Add these ingredients 15 minutes before cooking

  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 tbsp flour

Preparation

Soak chickpeas in water overnight. Remove chickpeas from the water and put them in a blender. Blend until you get a consistency similar to bread crumbs. Move them to a separate bowl.

Chop onions, garlic, mint leaves and green chili pepper and mix together, and then add to chickpeas. Also add chili powder, coriander, cumin, pepper, bread crumbs and salt, and mix all well together. Allow the mix to rest for 10 minutes.

Add baking powder, baking soda and flour into the chickpea mixture and allow to rest for another 15 minutes. You can form falafel balls by using mold or with your hands.

Heat oil in a pan on medium heat. After the oil is hot, lower the heat and put the falafel balls into the pan. Continue to stir them and fry them until they become golden brown in color.

Serve with Sana hummus as side dish. Bon appetite!
